June 17, 2024 – The ARSINOE project, led by the Athena Research Center in collaboration with the Hellenic Foundation for European & Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP), held its first testing and focus group session for an innovative virtual reality (VR) educational tool. This interactive tool is being developed to help educators, students, and the public better understand environmental challenges and potential solutions through an immersive learning experience.
The event opened with welcoming remarks from Dr. Ebun Akinsete, Principal Investigator of the Sustainable Development Unit at ATHENA RC, alongside Prof. Dr. Phoebe Koundouri, Principal Investigator of the ReSEES Research Laboratory at Athens University of Economics and Business, and Prof. Chrysi Laspidou, ARSINOE Coordinator and Professor at the University of Thessaly.
Participants, including teachers and students from the Athens Metropolitan Region, had the unique opportunity to engage with the ARSINOE VR tool. Through this interactive experience, attendees explored potential futures shaped by different environmental protection and climate change mitigation strategies.
Led by Akrivi Katifori and her team, the session included testing the VR tool and conducting focus group discussions to gather valuable feedback. The insights from participants will be used to refine and enhance the tool for future iterations, ensuring it provides an effective educational platform for climate awareness and action.
