ARSINOE recently hosted an insightful online webinar titled “Climate-resilient regions through systemic solutions and innovations,” placing a spotlight on the challenges and advancements within Case Study 4 (CS4), focusing on the vital Ohrid and Prespa lakes region.

The event successfully brought together around 30 online participants, including esteemed representatives from the Albanian Academy of Science, various universities, water resource experts, and research institutes from the region. Moderated by Nensi Lalaj from the National Agency for Territorial Planning (AKPT), the webinar provided a comprehensive overview of the ARSINOE project. Participants learned about the project’s results achieved to date, ongoing challenges, the application of the Systemic Innovation Approach (SIA), and opportunities presented through innovation tenders.

Crucially, the session featured dedicated presentations detailing the efforts and perspectives from both Albania and North Macedonia regarding the shared lake basin. Furthermore, NECCA (Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency) presented the Minka citizen observatory tool, showcasing its role in data gathering and citizen engagement within ARSINOE.

The primary goal of the webinar was successfully met: promoting the innovative solutions supported by ARSINOE and expanding awareness of the open data resources available across the three participating countries (Albania, North Macedonia, Greece) to foster greater resilience within the CS4 region.

A key outcome of the interactive session was the enthusiastic discussion around fostering joint collaboration between academic and research institutes across the countries involved in CS4. This highlighted a strong potential for future synergistic projects and knowledge exchange, building upon the foundations laid by ARSINOE.
